In 2003 the company name changed to Dell Inc to reflect their global
position. Trading on the Nasdaq by the end of 2004 DELL had over $100 billion
market capital recording a profit of $3.3 billion for 2004 (26% growth from
the previous year).
In the highly competitive computer systems sector Dell has successfully
branched from the US market - establishing rapid growth in their market share
in most major international markets. Dell currently occupies the top global
position and in February 2005 was No 1. in the Fortune Magazines ranking of
'Most Admired Companies'. Dell opened trading in the UK sector as early as 1987,
Dell UK remains the top desktop PC and notebook supplier in the United
Kingdom with around 25% of the market share. Whilst most well known for their
wide range of PC's and notebooks Dell also develop computer clusters
& servers as well as data storage & network switches. Most recent developments
have been in a new line of Dell printers, flat screen TV's, handheld PCs and
projectors alongside the network switches and power connections. Dell UK
continues to win accolades for their products such as 2004 Personal Computer
World Readers Choice Award for 'Best Laptop Manufacturer' and the 2004 Computeractive
Reader Survey winner of 'Best PC Manufacturer' award.
