Amazon is the leading online retailer in the United Kingdom specializing in books, film, games, music and online shopping services for both new and used goods.

The world wide leader in retail is Amazon.com - Amazon UK is one of six global sites for regional markets and leads the country's Internet retail sector. Initially dominating the US sector Amazon's UK web store's origins were in Bookpages an independent online book store which was acquired by the US Amazon company in 1998. By late 1998 the UK Amazon book store was launched offering over 1,400,000 titles to online customers within the UK -they were determined to offer the widest range of choice at low prices.
