Versatile Paulo - By: Karen, 11 Mar 2010
I hadn't heard much of Paulo Nutini before but what I had heard I liked. There is a great variety of musical styles on this album tho I like the swing/faster tracks best. I expect with further listenings the other tracks will grow on me. It is only on some tracks that his gravelly scottish tones come through. A great buy.
Pleasant surprise - By: Peter J. Palmer, 10 Mar 2010
Most albums have one or two good tracks & the rest are just padding. That does not apply to this one.
Paolo Nutini manages to keep you interested with changesin tempo & style, all of them good. It makes for enjoyable listening as he takes you with him through life's emotions.
sunny and happy all the way - By: Mrs. J. Parker, 09 Mar 2010
Great CD,does what it says on the label, makes you feel happy & sunny.Poalo Nutini has a wonderful relaxing way of singing, very soothing & yet foot tapping.I only heard of Poalo at Christmas & immediately loved his style, gentle with a hint of jazz. His songs have great lyrics, very romantic & a hint of comedy.
all over the place, still good fun though - By: P. Kittlitz, 09 Mar 2010
First off, I hadn't heard any of his music before, so I can't compare this to his first album.

The man is very ambitiousin terms of the number of genres & the musical ground he covers with this, & I think it doesn't work. He finds great melodies & I would say his singing is first rate, but often he just tries too hard to prove that he can be Otis Redding, Bruce Springsteen & several others rolled into one, & that just doesn't sound credible. As an album, this is a mess, even if many of its constituent parts are good. The music just skips & jumps between songs.

This is still great fun to listen to. In terms of sheer musicality, I think he's remarkable, & it's nice to see someone experiment so freely. One could also call it arrogant given how young he is. In any case, I look forward to his next album, when he might have narrowed down a little bit what he thinks he's about.
