Kasabian...slightly dull album - By: Hurdygurdyman, 04 Feb 2010
I first heard this latest offering from Kasabian about five months ago & I was not that impressed at the time &in fact checked out reviews & was surprised at the fairly high ratings that the album received, I recently bought the CD for just under a fiver (off Amazon) because it was cheap & I see that some other outlets are also selling the CD fairly cheaply which must tell you something..it's not that good!. Whilst looking at the reviews I was also surprised to find that this album is rated slightly higher than their previous effort Empire which I think is a better album but neither Empire or this offering come close to their debut which is a great album. This CD has some really dull, dreary & unmusical moments on it & I think the success of this album is partly due to their performances throughout the summer of '09 (Glastonbury being a prime example)and the track 'Fire' was played constantly last summer & it's a good number but only one of about five tracks that impress me. As I said on first listening I was not that impressed & further listening just highlights my original thoughts...tracks 6,9 & 12 are not of a standard I would expect from Kasabian & fair enough there are some reasonable offerings on this CD but I believe that like the Editors (last CD not bad but not great) Kasabian are suffering from the 'third album syndrome'.
Lets hope that their next album can live up to their first offering because this CD is quite inferior to that fantastic album. I appreciate that not every band can rise to the dizzy heights of previous material but I am slightly disappointed with this latest CD from Kasabian.
A welcome return to form! - By: Thin White Dude, 29 Jan 2010
The first Kasabian album was a classic (one of the best albums of the last decade), but the (difficult) 2nd one "Empire" was a disappointment. This album is a return to the good times & is superb. "Where did all the love go" has got to be one of the best & most catchy songsin recent years. This collection of genius is highly recommended for fans & new-comers alike.
Great! - By: Mummy Day, 12 Jan 2010
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loves Kasabian & isin to this type of music. He doesn't like it when bands go commercial & start getting number 1'sin the pop charts & said that this album is great as it is unique & Kasabian have still kept true to their roots with this album.
Pricing madness - By: The King, 23 Dec 2009
I have no comment about the music - but I just had to say how stupid it is that the digital download of this album is *more expensive* than the physical CD.
Kasabian are back! - By: Rhys, 02 Dec 2009
Having never been a huge fan of Kasabian, only owning the MP3's of their bigger hits like Club Foot & Empire. However after hearing Fire & Where did all the love go, I thought I'd push out the boat & by the albumin allin circularness.
And was atcually mildly surprised. Aside from Fire & Where did all the love go, other tracks like Underdog & Fast Fuse all stand out as some of the bands best work yet.
I'd certainly recommend this to anyone who is a big fan, although it is maybe kinda out there for anyone who hasn't sampled any of thier work before.
Overall, 3 stars for many very catchy tracks to fill the Ipod...
