OMD Best Compilation By Far - By: Philip A. Thorley, 10 Nov 2008
Unpromoted which is a shame, Thanks to Amazon This Compilation is easy to obtain. As an OMD fan from thier early days this a must for all collectors. I bought this for the DVD alone but I am sure the Cd will get some use. Excellent purchase for any music fan as this Band have infuenced so many over the years. Great to see them on thier reunion Tour. And may they continue to please thier fans for years to come, Timeless.
Why can't they all be like this?? - By: Michael S. Roehr, 03 Nov 2008
There are so many bands from the late 70's & early 80's that have GREAT videos from their heyday that never see the light of day (see Depeche Mode) while a group like OMD slaps them all onto this superb DVD for fans to see. I am only 30 but grew up seeing the videos on MTV as a little kidin the late 80's. Even my 24 year old wife has gotten into OMD after I played the material off the greatest hits compilations from the past. This one tops them all though. I'm so happy -someone-in the band or close to them took the time to protect the material for all those years. I can't recall how many times I've read bands lost their masters for videos, etc over time. Kudos to Andy & Paul!
What a bargain - CD and ALL their promo videos - By: WotMW, 07 Oct 2008
Yes, yes, it is a rehash of the Best Of OMD from'88 & The OMD Singles from '98. BUT, & this is a big but...this new package contains ALL of the bands promo videos spanning their entire career.
Some of the videos show their age (although cleaned up nicely for this release), & are worth watching for nostalgic purposes. However, some of the newer vids are stunning - I will make particular mention of Walking on the Milky Way, Dream of Me, & Then You Turn Away - the purchase price is worth it for these tracks alone.
As a bonus, you get 20 remastered tracks on CD - not one of them a duffer (which makes this greatest hits package virtually unique, against most other artists).
Bargain purchase.
A must for OMD fans - By: P. F. Yardley, 06 Oct 2008
As a life long fan this was a must buy for me. I was't too interestedin the CD (as like many i've got all the tracks a few times over) it was the DVD i wanted. Infact really this should really be called 'Messages - The OMD videos' with a audio CD thrownin for free. I've now replaced the ageing VHS tape & am delighted to have been able to that. For the newbie an excellent audio & visual combination to start you on your way!
It Worries Me, This Kind Of Thing - By: Coincidence Vs Fate, 27 Sep 2008
I always wonder who these Best Ofs are aimed at. If you're like me, a long time fan, then you'll have all this lot anyway. This is the third greatest hits package released by OMD.
Still, the real difference with this is the inclusion of the DVD, which is fantastic! It's always nice to look back (and chuckle) at those nightmare videos from the 80's.
Most important though is the music. Coincidently "Messages" was the first OMD single I bought when I was 14 & I've reamined a fan ever since. There have been periods when I've not particularly liked the music too much - around "Junk Culture", but I kept on buying.
One minor quibble: WHY THE HELL ISN'T "RED FRAME/WHITE LIGHT" on there?! That was a cracking single & it seems a shame that it wasn't included particularly when stuff such as "Dream Of Me" gets on there.
