Wow. Livein the LBC will blow you away. This is possibly the greatest live performance I have seen by a rock band. Beautifully directed with breathtaking camera angles & lighting. And I haven't even got round to the music yet.
Avenged play close to perfect. This would passin the studio. Synysters solos are incredibly played & Shadows' voice is more powerful than ever.
Worth the full money for Livein the LBC.
But diamondsin the rough?
Filled with B-Sides & covers.
There are reasons that these songs did not make the studio albums.
Songs like Crossroads & Demons are average & may even be considered good coming from a smaller rock band. BUT THIS IS AVENGED & we have come to expect better.
These thrown together with some average covers & a couple of pointless 'alternative versions' which sound almost exactly the same as the originals, wrap up Diamondsin the Rough.
It's worth a listen to (especially 'Until the End') but it really has no lasting quality.
Buy this for the live DVD. Listen to 'Diamondsin the Rough' through once, maybe twice, & then use it as a frisbee or something.
I cannot recommend the Live DVD more though.
Buy soley for that.

Ok first of im a huge A7x fan, so im just being honest.
First thing that put me of about this dvd is the fact that they only played 12 songs. I mean, thats just not cool, twelve songs for a whole concert??!! I'd be seriously disapointed if i went to see a band & they played half of what most bands play.
So how good is the dvd performance-wise... Too good, that sounds stupid i know but let me explain;
When you go to see a band live you want to see some energy, something new, something different... With this dvd i only see a band trying to perfect a song.. Almost all of the songs on this dvd sound identical to the record version, & personally i dont think that is cool... Live things should be alot more different.
The Dvd Extra's are ok... Like the Tour Intros.. there funny as hell.
The only way I can explain this item is that the CD saves the DVD...
The CD (Diamondsin the Rough) is great, i cant understand why they left these songs of there most recent (self-titled) album, cos all the songs are fantastic.. Some are old school A7x & others more experimental numbers...
Its worth buying this just for the CD, but don't pin your hopes up on the DVD.

Corby, 30 Sep 2008 Incredible.I couldn't help but feel a little cheated by All Excess, it was a cool insight but lacked any sense of direction or structure & generally covered where the band had been etc.but it is quite funny however, & some bits were great, however, bands like Chimaira are one of few who can pull of a documentary about themselves properly, A7X should have donein studio etc. & their lacklustre live performances on there left a while lot to be desired. Howefer, every track on this is immense. I'm a huge fan of every album of theirs, they make every track sound album quality with improved vox, drums & slight variations of solos (however syn plays them all nearly note perfect to album but somehow better) Shads vocals begin to get a little tested midsetin songs like beast & bat country but he soon gets back on track, he even screams during the older songs a little bit.
Favourites are secondheart beat, almost easy, a little piece of heaven, seize the day (that vocal after the last chorus!!)and of course unholy confessions.

Ah, it's arrived at last! The live A7x DVD, with a second disc of songs that didn't make it onto tehir self titled album releasedin 2007.
The cd is very good, some pretty catchy tunes & two covers (Iron Maiden's Flash of the Blade & Pantera's Walk).
It's all really great & is just what you'd expect from one of the best metal bands around these days. Highly recommended for new & old fans alike.
The only problem is the dvd region is NTSC.
So if you're English (I presume you are, being on .co.uk) then the dvd may not work if you have a dvd player (like a PS2) that only plays PAL regional dvd's. That's why I knocked a star off.
But other than that you'd be foolish to not buy this. I'd go as far as saying it's a defining momentin the bands career.
