Suprisingly great album!! - By: keri, 27 Aug 2009
I was looking for some new music browsing cd charts etc & came across this & I thought I'd give it a go! Im becoming a bit of a country music convert (due mainly to the awesomeness that is Rascall Flatts) & I already owned one of her other albums so I was at least familiar with her stuff, I thought her music was ok, nice upbeat, goood time music..... but this, this took me totally off guard, really enjoyed it even with my first listen, & I think its a very welcomed departure from her pop music. Her country music goes down a treat!! its very well done.Has sort of a relaxing-on-a-sunday-morning sound to it...
good on ya Jessica!! I'd say. Would definately recommend this.

Perfect fit for Jessica Simpson - By: Belinda Cole, 27 Dec 2008
I have to say that I think this style of country music works perfectly for Jessica Simpson. It wasn't too country for one to say it was unnatural. The album deals mainly with love but also other issues thus making it well rounded. So we have the flirtatious 'Come on over', Break up songs like 'When I loved you like that' & 'still don't stop me' as well as 'Remember that' about an abusive relationship. However, Jessica also sought to inspire with uplifting tracks like 'Pray out loud' & 'still beautiful' which is an ode to Jessica's positivity about life even at the saddest of times. 'Man enough' & 'Might as well be making love' are truly beautiful & powerful songs, as is the title track 'Do you know'. This is the amazing duet with Dolly Parton where she serves only to compliment Jessica's vocal which reach a spine tingling peak at the end adlibs.
Ignore the dud reviews out there that judge this album really on Jessica's partly tabloid created image/reputation rather than on its own merit. This is probably her best & most mature, honest & natural album. I didn't give it 5 stars only because on my earlier listens, I really felt that there could have been one or two more songs of an uptempo nature.
Have a look out for the bonus itune track 'Never not beautiful'. That's a great song about loving those many special peoplein your life & the little things they do. Very pure & honest. It is a shame this was no on the CD copy.
"Yoko Romo" fumbles - By: Amanda Richards, 18 Oct 2008
By going back to her roots, singer/songwriter Simpson proves that when it comes to country music she's a better songwriter than singer, but not by much. Eight of the tracks bear the Simpson name under writing credits, & although there are a few good songs, this won't go down as one of her better albums.
The first single is "Come on Over" (co-written by Simpson), a short (less than 3 minutes) country-pop mainstream "driving-along-on-a-Sunday-with-the-radio-on" song, with a decent chorus & all the country trimmings.
The second single is "Remember That", another country-pop song about an abusive relationship where the guy comes begging back after he comes to his senses. The lyrics remind the victim of the physical & verbal abuse she's been through, & advises her to move on & survive. This track has a catchy chorus, but just around this point you realize that Simpson is having a hard time with the high notes.
The rest of the album includes a gospel-country track with a positive message; a couple of maudlin & drippy numbers; & a slew of generic slow country songs, where it becomes more & more obvious that the vocals aren't quite up to the challenge.
"Still Beautiful" is another track with a catchy chorus & positive message, but unfortunately it's simply not that memorable, & although it's good enough to be a single, you won't remember itin a few months. The big finale with Dolly Parton is, sadly, Simpson's worst vocal performance on the album.
She gets a passing grade on the writing, but gets an "improvement required" on the vocals.

First couple of tracks are okay then it goes down hill - By: S. Coster, 15 Oct 2008
I found the first few songs okay & quite enjoyed singing along to them. Then it all got a bit samey & the lyrics where quite poor. I also felt she was forcing her voice far to much & trying to make herself sound more country.
