Same again... - By: Scooby Doo, 01 Dec 2008
...and again & again.
There is no progressionin her selection or style. She is just a singer of songs & after six albums of the same thing words like staid, formula & predictable come easily to mind.
This album is a setp backwards & the most deflating of the lot...a re-affirmnent of formula over progression. Maybe the change of record label may stir something but as it stands she will be successful, talented, rich & very dull. Surely dull is the most damning criticism that can be levelled at an artist.
Strictly Grannie Fodder - By: Ms. Felicia Davis-burden, 27 Nov 2008
Only Jeff Buckley brought anything wonderful to Hallelujah, & the song should be left well alone. And since when is the theme to Vicar Of Dibley a 'sacred aria'? OK, it is an arrangement of Psalm 23, but I can't listen to this without laughing. As prettily as Ms Jenkins sings, I'm afraid this album is for grannies only. Wish I hadn't been subjected to any of it.
Soft, nice and combined with a very worm voice - By: Anders Bjernhed, 26 Nov 2008
I have as well listened to as created sacred music. This album is so easy to listen to & Kathrine Jenkins very nice & warm voice give this music its right caracter.
oh dear - By: Wild Bill, 18 Nov 2008
Unfortunately, this album contains a cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah', a song which about the pain of sexual love. Katherine turns it into an anodyne, passionless 'hymn', devoid of the heartache that made Jeff Buckley's cover so perfect. A tragic waste of her talents. Yet another example of how 'crossovers' don't work. Avoid. (It isn't even an aria!).
SIMPLEMENTE GRANDIOSA Y ENCANTADORA - By: C. Bellegarrigue, 31 Oct 2008
