Excellent complement for the recently remastered versions of Killing Joke's Night Time, Brighter...1000 Suns & Outside the Gate albums, as this release contains many tracks sorely missing from them & which have until now been unavailable elsewhere on CD. Probably for dedicated Joke fans only, this compilation makes up for the rather hit-or-miss offerings previously available (such as the Wilful Days CD).

We Joke fans continue to be seriously catered for as of late, & I appreciate the cheapness of this CD bearingin mind we all thought it was only ever going to be 'download only' & I had therefore all ready bought it online. After all, music fans do enough double-dipping nowadays as it is (vinyl, CD, remastered CD....). As an expanded breakdown:

Just one point of note: the Eighties (Serious Dance Mix) is a shorter (6.02 mins) version & not the 6.32 one from the original 12" (let alone the excellent 8.00 version as found on the Wilful Days CD). Shame they couldn't have included the original version, or indeed Wardance (Naval Mix) & the Knaves Mix of Kings & Queens. I've still to hear this last one after 23 years! However these are minor quibbles for what really is a superb collection that gathers ;) together most of the previously unreleased (at least on CD) b-sides & remixes from the Joke's late 80s period.

Roll on a definitive round-up of the Pandemonium/Democracy era remixes. Double CD anyone?

(The booklet includes a short history of the band, some liner notes about the tracks on the CD & most poignantly dedicates the release to the terribly premature loss of Paul Raven, one of the two outstanding bassists for the band.)
