Great! - By: Jon Turner, 19 Aug 2008
Well I have to agree with Hot Angel & say that the number of bad or indifferent reviews I've read for this albumin the press do not do it justice. The new material is great, & the added production polish does not detract from the quality of the songs or the CSS sound. Ignore the naysayers - if you like CSS & the first album then buy this one too!
Surprisingly good - By: I. Hussain, 10 Aug 2008
After their fantastic first album, i was wondering how CSS would follow it up. New rave is over & one of its biggest purveyors needed to step up.
The album is a bit slicker & definitely more "produced", however there is still a playful nonchalance about many of the songs. Anyhow, it was always going to be difficult being as playful as 'Meeting Paris Hilton' from the first album.
Donkey is easy to listen to & has plenty of songs that will get stuckin your head. Highlights include 'Jager Yoga', 'Move' & 'Believe Achieve'. A decent follow-up from a really good band. Worth a buy.
HUGELY Disappointing - By: IWFIcon, 06 Aug 2008
It's two years since Cansei De Ser Sexy's album & by the sounds of Donkey, the party is well & truly over.
It's not that it's a dreadful album per se, although it does come close to being labelled that, just that if someone had specifically taken the trouble to eradicate everything that made CSS a thrilling proposition & at the same time wash away all traces of individuality they couldn't have done a much better than this donkey of an album. A cheap shot for sure, but one they set themselves up for.
It was perhaps expected that a professional polish would be added to the proceedings (lets not forget this was a band who when,in 2003, formed didn't know how to play any instruments) given the success of the previous album but it still comes as a huge disappointment that it's so generic and, well, normal.
Granted if you take the handful of decent tracks on here, the likes of Let's Reggae All Night & Move, & replaced the duff songs on the other album with them as a whole you'd have an absolutely brilliant album. But the new tracks would still be the ones that stand out as being a couple of notches below the likes of Let's Make Love (And Listen To Death From Above).
Allin all, this is a hugely disappointing listen which has aimed for chart success but merely ended up removing everything that made you love CSSin the first place

super sexy indie/electro/pop - By: HotAngel, 21 Jul 2008
I cant help but be a little miffed at the amout of middling-fair reviews of this album by the press.
Maybe its not as surreal & daring as their debut but its still better than half the generic indie & pop out there today!
Lovefoxx oozes sex as she sings & the songs are wicked! Higlights include Rat is dead, reggae all night, left behind, air painter, believe achieve & move.
Seriously ignore those reviewers are expected "Cansei De Ser Sexy" part 2 & enjoy a great fun album!
