Amazing album, very pleased I bought it. - By: MrMetalheadO'Hagan, 06 Aug 2008
While I was on holidaysin Manchester, I bought this album I have heard about this band somewhere before so I decided to buy it & this album absolutely rocks. The riffs by Richie & Dan are brilliant & memorable, the drumming is great & the lyrics are also really good. My favourite songs here are deffinetly Burn The Witch & Defend Or Die both awesome songs. Some of the riffage on this album remind me alot off Megadeth's earlier stuff for example near the end of the song Burn The Witch the riff when I first heard it straight away reminded me off Mustaines riffs on Countdown To Extinction & So Far So Good So What brilliant. The vocals are excellent on this album too. This album is well worth the money if you're just looking for a good rock/metal album with awesome riffs & vocals then this is a great buy. 5 stars for me.
Absolutley Amazing ! - By: C. Dear, 28 Jul 2008
My copy arrived the other day & hasn't left my Hi-Fi system since! This is a fantastic album. The songs on it are all very heavy & Richies's voice is so loud & powerful, it's deffinatley one of the best rock albums of 2008 if not the best. They are a totally different band from The Darkness so there is no pointin comparing them but this album is truly a master piece, a must have for any fan of rock n'roll music.
one the neighbours will have to learn to love - By: Ceri, 25 Jul 2008
My copy arrived today & hasn't been off the turntable yet, & I can't see anything shifting it for the foreseeable future. Once you get passed the 'spot the influences' (anyone else think Rory Gallagher on 'I'm with the band'?) this is a great collection of songs, played by a band on top form.
Brilliant - By: cougarric, 24 Jul 2008
Just to set the scene, I am late 30's & a fan of rock/metalin general. I can enjoy anything from Matchbox 20 to Metallica.
I wasn't expecting too much from Stone Gods, but seeing the Classic rock review made me sit up & take notice. I'm glad I did.
The first few listens were encouraging. Burn The Witch being the best. Similar to the Darknessin terms of riffing but this time supporting by the awesome rock vocals of Richie Edwards. A perfect match.
The songs are all great. Not a single filler, & a lot of variation, but not too much so that you find the album disjointed.
There's a few potential commercial singles, but thankfully they sit nicely with the rest of the (heavier) songs & don't sound out of place at all.
I'd played the album around 10 times when it suddenly became a "repeat play" album - something which doesn't happen too often with me these days. The only song I do skip is the final one O Whereo my beero, which is ok but a little pedestrian compared to the sheer quality before it.
I checked out how the album & singles had done just now & couldn't believe how lacklustre the sales have been. The Darkness' hype obviously made the difference because this albums kicks both of their albums into touch & deserves so much more.
Awesome songs, awesome singing, awesome riffing. Buy it.
