Not as good as Em's previous work - By: A92, 01 Jul 2010
When i purchased the album i was excited to see which new songs Eminem had & weather it could live up to his very high standards. Unfortunately it didn't & Relapse is nowhere near as good as Eminem's previous albums (especially Marshall Matthers LP).
Although i do like a few songs on the album, such as "we made you" i don't feel that Eminem delivers lyrically & i also feel that the beats do not match up to his previous work.
My recommendation -
I would only recommend you buy this album if you want to boost Eminem's album sales.
It's Good But Not That Good - By: Alex, 06 Apr 2010
Unlike many die-hard fans I waited to get hold of this album.
RELAPSE is a much darker album than the previous ones. The subject matter is the usual Eminem stuff (drugs, his mum, rape, insanity & more drugs).
I found the first three tracks (3 am,My Mom,Insane) pretty forgettable. These don't have great hooks or lyrics & end up more as rants. Insane particularly is a track I choose not to listen to, it is unpleasant even for Eminem standards. The album does pick up but it does not have any killer tracks of the likes of Stan, Without Me, My Name Is or Just Lose It. These were stand out tracks from the previous albums.
By the time you reach Stay Wide Awake which is over halfway through things are improving. Deja Vu, Beauiful, Crack A Bottle & Underground are the best remaining tracks.
On this album much of his usual humour has gone. It has been replaced by a darker humour with more sexual comments/violence & increased swearing. This may not concern many of you but I always found Eminem at his best lyrically when he was rapping about lifein general rather than beating on women or swearing just for swearing sake. I tried very hard to like this album but failed. With all of the previous albums I thought 'love it' even before they had finished. Not with RELAPSE because it really only has 7 good tracks out of 15.
I got this C.D cheap so I'm happy. If I had paid full price I would be upset.
The king is back - By: Mr. C. A. Smith, 26 Mar 2010
Firstly i pre ordered this album & recieved it the day of it's releasein the U.K which is always good when you pre-order.
Onto the album Being a fan of Mr Slim Shady & looking towards him for insperation (I also make music) i began thinking shady had left us then out of no where comes relapse. This album is for the hardcore horrorcore rap fans out there, the whole album is like a story stemming from his youth to his addiction even when he thought he was going to die. It does contain dark humor which many people may not get at first but overall good quality music with some of shady's best work.
A classic - By: P. Zahra, 26 Mar 2010
In my humble opinion this is quite possibly one of his best albums ever. Given the history & circumstance of it coupled with the great tunes makes it one of my fav albums ever.
