Seen him live & had to buy the CD. If you want a cheerful pop record stay clear, but i can say nothing bad about this album. Has not left my CD playerin 2 weeks

he's a bit of a miserable so & so.. plus the music's a bit repetitive.. the same melody keeps coming back with little variety combined with the same depressing lyrics.. always beginning the songs from a low point.. & going lower.. at least damien rice puts suicidal lyrics to more interesting music..

I've read many an industry review saying that this is no where near as good as the first album, but I go totally opposite to that, I think its betterin the way that it is a more rounded different album, showing someone trying out sounds & enjoying the music the make. Fantastic Dav, fantastic!!
Sublime - By: Withnail123, 12 Nov 2007 I bought this album after clicking on a "customers who bought..." link. I'd never heard of David Ford before, but will be recommending the album to all who care to listen. The album is captivating from start to finish. All the songs are highlights, so I'll just mention my peronal favourites. The opener "Go To Hell" is wonderful, starting with a beautifully warm string arrangement, & leading into a heartfelt & passionate lyric. "I'm Alright Now" is upbeat & romantic, but without the schmaltz of the currentin vogue singer-songwriters, & "Requiem" is full of vitriol ("let us be f****** from behind" a stand-out lyric). But the stand-out for me is the (discounting the bonus tracks) closing track, "...And So You Fell". A Tom Waits-esque melody & some fine pedal steel guitar playing, along with Ford's deft lyrical touch, I couldn't stop pushing the "rwd" button on the stereo. A crying shame that Ford is criminally overlookedin favour of the mundane Jameses (Blunt & Morrison) & their ilk. If you like this, check out Oddur who is signed to Lou Rhodes's (ex-Lamb) label.
Wonderful - By: Cec, 07 Nov 2007 David Ford's 'Songs For The Road' is a truly inspirational piece of work. Probably my most listened to album; it is almost impossible to turn off. The amount of passion & honestyin all of his lyrics are just amazing & the clarity & tone of his voice make listening to him incredibly addictive. After being told for months to listen to David Ford I finally got round to seeing him live at Shepherds Bush Empire & I was blown away by his performance. This is the best album I have heardin years. Wonderful.
