Stunning Classic - By: Alan Cross, 19 Sep 2007
Saxophonist Ike Quebec weaves a spell of beauty alongside guitarist Kenny Burrell, Percussionist Willie Bobo & Garvin Masseaux on Chekere.
Recordedin 1962 this classic selection of laid back bossa & samba proved to be an epitaph for Quebec who died shortly after the recording. He plays with such warmth & sensitivity that perhaps he knew this was the culmination of his lifein jazz.
It is a beautiful album which adds 3 tracks to the original release of 9 laid back classics with the rhythm section giving a masterclassin understated but solid suport.
For fans of Jazz or Latin or Brazil this is a must.
