Strong debut album - By: JJ Pwfelli, 23 May 2008
If you like rock & blues, expertly played with soul & passion then you can't go wrong with this album. Far from a one trick pony the full on blues/rock onslaught is lightened with such delicate celtic influenced songs as Roll Away & Stay. On this form Back Door Slam should be destined for greatness.
The new Free? - By: Yves Vandezande, 08 Apr 2008
Allright now, they're not quite there.
Great bluesy voice, great guitar playing, tight rhythm section.
Back Door Slam would've been bigin the early 70's.
And should grow bigin 2008 as well.
A fine album, heartily recommended for all those blues rock lovers out there.

A GREAT debut album from a REAL Band with massive potential! - By: S. Courtie, 21 Jun 2007
Finally.. the wait is over! After years of waiting for some superb REAL music & genuine musical TALENT to come out of Britain, or more specifically, the Isle of Man..here are the guys who have the raw talent to put the British rock /blues music back on the map. Forget all those slack-jawed, self-obsessed, over-hyped pseudo-celebrities you see on celebrity TV that have as much talent & depth as an empty box of chocolates..BACK DOOR SLAM are THE REAL DEAL.
Guitarist Davy Knowles continues to amaze & inspire with his seemingly effortless guitar playing that draws on so many great influences & takes them somewhere new & with utter class. Also Davy has 'that' voice which puts him into the realm held by only a few rock legends - you won't believe your ears believe me. His songwriting, like his guitar playing & singing, belies his years & you can bet this is just the beginning of something VERY special as audiencesin the USA have been discovering on the first part of their 2007 debut tour. The talented trio is completed superbly with fellow school mates, Ross Doyle on drums & Adam Jones on bass guitar who together bring out the bestin Davy's playing & their chemistry live is not something you see every day... It's not often that you hear of a band getting several standing ovations at a gig as prestigious as the Beale Street Music Festivalin Memphis, but that's just what Back Door Slam got! Now their debut CD, Roll Away has been released, you can bet that the word is going to spread even faster, & a lot of that live magic has been captured here - though as any of you who have seen them live, dripping with raw sweat & passion will know there's a heck of a lot more to comein the future. A BIG thumbs up to Davy, Ross & Adam!
Blues legend in the making - By: Bryan Darroch, 19 Jun 2007
The debut album from the band centred around the teenage guitar virtuoso Davy Knowles. When one hears Davy play guitar, one is tempted to think that his genius is complete. Then he opens his mouth & adds a fantastic blues voice to the package. Along with his rhythm section, Ross & Adam, he has crafted some mighty fine numbers here including long time live favourites Too Late & the touching, poignant, Stay. The production is clean, rather than down 'n' dirty, but that has the benefit of clear focus on the precise, yet soulful guitar work. Ross & Adam have grown into a very solid backline upon which Davy's work can find foundation. I tell you sincerely that I have seen many of the blues guitar "legends"in action including Clapton, SRV, BB King & Jeff Healy as well as the more "widdly diddly" rock guitarist like Vai, Satriani & Malmsteen & this fella can live with any of them & has the voice to match the talentin his fingers. This album has GOT to take off & be the first chapterin what will be a very interesting story... BUY IT AND BUY IT NOW - have the chance to tell your grandchildren that you werein on the ground floor of a legend...
