a bit disappointing - By: wazzo, 22 Jul 2007
Dont get me wrong I am a big fan of Fat Freddys Drop but found this album a bit self indulgent & flat. Dukies voice which is one of the finest around seems to go a bit pear shaped here & there too. It all kind of meanders & doesnt have enough light & shade, I guess you had to be there. I have seen them live on a couple of occasions & each time they were absolutely superb, great energy & performances all round. I guess I expected more of the same on this album but felt a little short changed
An essential piece for everyone - By: R. H. Tilsley, 31 Jan 2006
I heard this album at at a communityin New Zealand at a party, a little slow for a party but it works because the music is so amazing. When i got back a played it to everyone i knew, from hard rockers to jazz enthusiasts & everythingin between & it works. I listen to songs from this everyday & i never grow tired of them. "Runnin'" is a real chill out track which will get you accustomed to the heavy bass which runs through the album, "Rain" is for the brass section & MU on the beats, "No Parking" really shows Joe Dukies ability as a soulful singer. All round this album is great & its over 70 minutes, for 4 songs!!! It gives you an idea of they jam songs out. Ideal for any occasion, bang on.
