Some things are constant - By: Ian Thomason, 15 Dec 2006
Many years had passed , more than 10 , I found myselfin November 2006in a crowded pub venuein Sheffield wondering how Walter Trout was faring ; remembering even longer back & John Mayall with yet another guitar man .
Some things pass all understanding ; let's just say that I enjoyed that gig, & not from nostalgia . It was as fresh as first hearing . Guitarists know what Trout is ; the wider public probably has heard of Clapton. Let's just say that sometimes he wishes he could play with the verve & optimism that Trout & Mayall still do ,in little gigs , like young men , just because you have to , & it's who you are.
This CD is that good. Just a group of people playing the music as it comes ,in one take . But what playing , & what people.
A must - By: music lover, 07 Jul 2006
I am lucky to own all of Walters back catalogue. I have to say that out of all his studio albums, this is the best yet. It is a must for any Trout or blues fan. Simply awesome. He shows all his years of experience here. What more can I say?
Walt's on fire - By: Mr. Adrian Incledon-webber, 30 Jun 2006
After a couple of middle of the road cd's Walter Trout is back with a gem.
Often a 'with Friends' album can feel muddied with no one wishing to outshine their host but on this cd all the guests are given free reign to express themselves & BOY do they.
The first track is Trout at his best with his old band leader John Mayall guesting. Just over 8 minutes of sheer delight. Ace vocals from Walter & John plus what Trout does best GUITAR SOLOS!!! This track alone will get the air guitarist reaching for their imaginary axes.
The rest of the cd is blues at its best plus a little jazz mixedin for fun.
Jeff Healey, Eric Sardinas etc. Buy this as no Trout fan or blues guitar fun should be without it.
A Reflection Of Where The Blues Is Today! - By: John Stracey, 10 Jun 2006
Walter Trout's first releasein 5 years with a little help from his friends aptly entitled 'Full Circle' featuring some of the artists he's enjoyed playing with over the last 35 years focusing on their individual styles, whilst giving his own inimitable feel to everything!
It's no surprise that the generous opening track 'She Takes More Than She Gives' is arguably the best blues song on the whole album, as John Mayall has that extraordinary knack of extracting the very best out of any artist he collaborates with dating all the way back to his legendary 'Bluesbreakers'! A burning blues jam 'Workin' Overtime' featuring Jeff Healey continues this celebration of the blues & other gems include 'Wrapped Around Your Finger' with the ever energetic Guitar Shorty & 'A Busy Man' with James Harman on harmonica & vocals. Bernard Allison's guitar blows you away with 'When Will It Ever Change', as does Joe Bonamassa with 'Clouds on the Horizon' not forgetting the quintessential musician's musician Deacon Jones playing Hammond B3 organ on 'After Hours' injecting yet another dimension into proceedings!
Walter Trout continues to be one of the best loved blues/rock artistsin the world today influencing many of his contemporaries with his music, energy & encouragement & long may he run!
Full Circle is a reflection of where the blues is today as well as a glimpse into its future!
