Worst live album ever released - By: Ryan Corr, 05 Aug 2008
Massive Slipknot fan speaking here, I traveled far & long to see them perform live many years ago several times, & while you get caught upin the atmosphere when you're there & on DVD can appreciate the visual element, without those factors Slipknot's shortcomings are disappointingly apparent.

9.0 has the worst production of anything I've ever heard, & that includes things that were produced badly on purpose. While the band shines on their studio outings, it must be keptin mind that these albums are often many years apart. In the live situation, that majesty just can't be recaptured night after night. If anything, itsin the live situation that Slipknot's shortcomings are showcased. Their strengths arein committing to making a record as perfect as possible, & their weaknesses arein packing far too much, sonically, into their concerts. Please don't waste your money, even if you are a huge fan or completist. Not every band can have a perfect discography.
Out of this world - By: Mr. Gary Fox, 20 Dec 2007

A nice idea, but doesn't deliver - By: Nick McQueen, 05 Mar 2007
Slipknot are famed for their incredible live shows, so when this came out i had high expectations. Unfortunatly, the best thing about the live show is the atmosphere, which you just don't get by listening to itin your living room.

The sound quality is fantastic, & the tracks are all merged together so it feels like one long concert track (when it's actually a compilation of their best live performances from their Vol.3 tour - you'd never know apart from the fact he says "Yes singapore!" on one track & "I love Las Vegas" on the next), but corey simply can't scream like he used to be able to, & he slurrs a lot of his words when he's trying to sing really quickly. Corey performs better on the songs from Vol.3, obviously because he doesn't scream as hard as he does on the other albums.

He also swears a hell of a lot too (the first thing corey says is "are you ready for this Sh!t motherf*ckers!") which isn't a problem, except when your Dad asks to listen to it...

Musically though, it isn't all that bad, you get used to corey's slurred vocals eventually, so I'd recommend it if you've never heard any of their stuff before & want a lot of tracks for a good price.

But considering Slipknot's reputation for amazing live shows, it's just not what I was expecting. It would have been good to package it with a DVD with some live videos.

If you want to listen to some good live shows, buy Disasterpieces, so you can see all the action as well (or just type slipknotin youtube).
A MAJOR DISSAPOINTMENT - By: M. Crozier, 12 Feb 2007
i have & always will be a massive slipknot fan, but this sucks.
when i heard they were relesing a live album i couldn't wait for it to come out, & owning disasterpieces i knew they were good live, very good.
but this is realy bad, corey's voice is terrible, he sounds nothing like he dose on record, & the guitarist's play ok, not there best though.
so dont listen to these other guys & buy disasterpieces instead of this, you will regret buying this, i certainly did. stay (sic)
A Review From A Non-Metalhead - By: Hobo Joe, 20 Feb 2006
I bought this album 2 days agoin New York on Holiday. I used to hate Slipknot & think them just screaming. A friend got me into them via constant persuasion & then he burned me a compilation CD which had some Slipknot songs on ("Wait And Bleed", "Duality", "Spit It Out", "The Nameless" & "Pulse Of The Maggots") & I really enjoyed the brutal energy & power of them. I'm not a massive fan of most metal, but I do like some bands (System Of A Down, Arch Enemy, Trivium, Mastodon) & decided to buy a 'Knot CD, but didn't know where to start. Seeing as I've read all these things about their amazing live shows, & this was on sale, I decided to buy it & wasn't disappointed. Slipknot have got a great energy about their live shows & that really comes acrossin this CD. Corey Taylors vocals may be ragged but that's part of the appeal, it's rough, raw & incredibly exciting.

The intro is great with a false announcement that Slipknot won't be playing, then they take the stage to hammer the crowd with "The Blister Exists." And continute to tear apart the stage, hyping up the crowd, adding extra screams & basically beefing up studio versions. My favourite songs ("Duality", "Wait And Bleed", "People= ยง***" & "Spit It Out") sound twice as good live especially during "Spit It Out" with the "Zero bulls***" thing as Corey gets the crowd hyped up. To add to the brilliant live chaos there's rare tracks ("Purity", "Get This") & a fantastic drum solo from drummer extradionare Joey Jordison.

Allin all, fantastic, great fun & a head-pounding pleasure to havein anyones collection of CDs, wether they be a hardcore maggot or metal newbie. Buy it, you won't be disappointed if you're looking for an exciting, fast metal album.
