Steaming Jungle - By: Gibby's Ghost, 12 Jun 2005
This is one of Lee Perry's lesser known masterpieces from his golden Black Ark periodin the mid seventies.
The rythmns mostly come from Max Romeo's "Warin Babylon" & drip with that dense, steaming jungle sound that Perry perfected at the Black Ark.
Jazzbo is a great under-rated toaster who basically established the rockstone style of deep voiced philosophical mautterings that others like Prince Far I & Josey Wales picked up & developed.
This is up there with "Heart of the Congos" & "Superape" as the very best to come out of the Black Ark. A real must for Lee Perry afficiandos & lovers of conscious roots deejay music.
