Struggling to stand the test of time....... - By: Les Ireland, 16 Apr 2010
When Lindisfarne started I thought they were fantastic. When I went to their annual Christmas gig at Aycliffe recreation centre backin the early eighties I was blown away - an amazing concert. But now, too many of the songs sort of sound dated. There's still the brilliance of "Meet Me on the Corner", & "The Fog on the Tyne." "A clear White light" takes me back to the stunning standout moment of that Christmas concert. But now, just too many of the songs sound like each other, & merge into each other. It's a good album for people like me to remember a golden band from youth. I just don't think this has the impact any more to reach out to a new audience. Perhaps they were more a band of their time than I realised then.
good - By: G. Hutchinson, 13 Apr 2010
Certainly a good selection of their best & (mostly) well known tracks, plus two stated as (previously unreleased). A great booklet accompanies the CD, & I wish more albums were like this. Such a shame that "Lady Eleanor" was never extended. If you like the group then a good buy.
No one came to criticise, no one to complain... BUT - By: Fred Basset, 10 Jan 2010
There ARE people with decent hi fi & (in my case) half-decent ears, & having played this CD through my Copland/Audio Note set-up, as soon as my ears stopped bleeding I rushed off to get out the original LPs & give them a spin - they have rarely been off the turntable since - perhaps this ghastly recording serves some purpose after all, if you have a Little Pink Thing to fall back on (hi fi joke)... as for everyone else, the better your hi fi, the more you love Lindisfarne, the greater will be your suffering... sorry...
EMI? I'll have to send you all to jail for doing this terrible thing

They brought a lot of fun to 70's/80's music
But there was some damn good songwriting & melodies.Alan Hull the main moverin the band is dead but his & the band's legacy lives on & on & on
If you were lucky enough to catch one of the band's immortal Christmas shows at Newcastle City hall you'd understand.............
