When I tried to select a chapter on the sub menu nothing happened. Would only play if it was run as a continuous play. This was the same on both discs I was sent. Worked fine on PC & Lap top. When working it is a very geed instruction DVD. complicated for a beginner - By: shropshirestar, 07 Sep 2010 ![]() i bought this for my 14 yr old daughter thinking it was for a beginner & she could start from scratch , however she has a basic knowledge of playing accoustic & still found this difficult to understand , so its not strictly for beginners you do need to play guitar first , this is the second dvd i have bought claiming to be strictly for beginners i have given up now Not bad I suppose...... - By: Chris, 10 Mar 2010 ![]() I purchased this DVD as I wanted to start playing the guitar again - played a bit while at school 30+ years ago & fancied another go. Goes through the basics & learning pace is as quick or as slow as your ability will allow. Only issues I really have are: 1. The section on guitar care - doesn't include setting up the guitar (i.e. intonation & the like) 2. Because it's a DVD it isn't a replacement for real lessons - don't anyone out there think they can learn to play properly from ANY DVD. I suppose this goes for all kinds of non-interactive learning & isn't a criticism of this particular product - if you have an area where you're stuck or not getting the results you want then the set info on the disk (orin a book) is all you're gonna get. There is nothing like having a real tutor tell/show you how to do things better. Not sorry I bought it - though I'm just off to book a series of real lessons now.......... Truely worth 5 Stars, Excellent for beginners/struggling guitarists and even seasoned players - By: G. Neill, 11 Jan 2010 ![]() This really is the ultimate course for beginners & seasoned or struggling guitarists. Explains everything (chords, scales, picking etc)in a to the point & enjoying way. You will also learn the theoryin a 3D/2D manner ( this is kept interesting so you will learn quickly & you will then know all about keys/scales/rhythm/chords etc. Theplay along tracks are brilliant; they will help you practice chords & scales by playing along to a simple backing track. I havent even reached the Electric section which has the Rock, blues & country songs with lessons including Rhythm & solos. The Rock, blues & country songs look great (entices you to keep learning). I can'tfault it; Keith is an excellent instructor & things like muting, picking, vibrato, arpeggios & string bending tell you this is a Beginners DVD designed to really improve your playing & open you to Guitar playing whilst at the same time being very laid back & easy to follow. Highly Recommeded. Excellent DVD - well worth every penny - By: Sam, 10 Dec 2008 ![]() I'd always wanted to learn guitar, but thought it looked too difficult. When my son gave up, it seemed a shame to waste the guitar, so being too embarrassed & broke to have lessons I bought this DVD on the strength of the high ratings it's received here; which are well deserved. This is a truly excellent DVD. The menu system is easy to use, each session is short & the instructions are clear, you're sent away at the end of each session to practice what you've just been shown using the practice tracks & you move on once you're comfortable with your progress. Because of the way the sessions are structured, you can work through them at your own pace, I'm taking it really slowly, but even so, (in my view) I've made great progress (I didn't think I'd be able to switch from chord to chord without looking, but I can now!. I'm (obviously) an absolute beginer, but I can see this will be useful to anyone who wants to brush up on their techniques, my husband plays 12 string acoustic - & knows everything ;0) - but I've even caught him strumming awayin front of the TV. Buy this DVD, you will not regret it. Related TitlesOther CDs related to Fender Presents: Getting Started On Electric Guitar [2002] [DVD] include:
