A great introduction to contemporary celtic music - By: Sandra, 05 Jan 2006
"Oncein a red moon" is a symphony for instruments & voice, echoing hebraic & medieval, celtic & spanish musicalities. The elegiac themein "Awakening" is resumed & varied all along the album, finally ending with dramatic tones of requiemin "Elegie". Two other compositions stand out from the instrumental part: the energetic "Invitation", a record of joyous sonority & beating effect, & "Fairytale", a musical ballad with trobadoric rhythm. The vocal part is dominated by "You raise me up", where Irish voices of Belfast singer Brian Kennedy & AnĂșna choir are called to illuminate the spirituality of the lyric, & "Gates of dawn", where the powerful, Gaelic melodiosity of Scottish singer Karen Matheson is transposedin a solo performancein English language. Definitely a gem. The included booklet about album making is a masterpiecein its genre.

Soothing and Beautiful, an Inspirational Album - By: , 12 Jul 2004
What can i say, a beautiful album. The perfect balance of expertly played instruments (piano, violin etc..)and that celtic theme throughout, makes me tingle everytime i listen to it. My sister plays my favourite song (Promise, track 9) on the piano, & it sounds wonderful, but nothing is more magical than listening to the enchanting Secret Garden themselves. I am waiting for their big break-through, butin my eyes they have acheived so much more than people younger & better looking that themselves. They are so incredibly talented, it makes you have faithin the music industry again, that it is not all stereotyped sticks from the pop factory, but truly spectacular musicians & singers.
Everyone should buy this!
This deserves prime place in any music collection! - By: Mr. Stephen Kennedy, 19 Feb 2004
Every time a new Secret Garden album comes along, it sounds just that bit more special than the last, & I expect the bubble to break & everyone will be talking about them. However, to date they still seem to be low key & little heard of. Maybe this wonderful album will be the one to turn that around!
The mix of Norwegian classical orchestration with the most beautiful & evocativein Celtic music, makes for a sublimely uplifting & relaxing experience. This is not just chill out music, but music to inspire.
The collaborators, particularly Brian Kennedy & Karen Matheson add a wonderful extra element which lets the music really breathe, & means the listener will never get bored with the CD - you'll be able to listen to this over & over & over again, making this the best value CD you will buy this year.
The most relaxing music ever!! - By: , 10 Apr 2003
The combination of classical & celtic melodies is perfect. There are no words which could adequately describe how beautiful & relaxing the music on this album is. Forget all those "chill out" compliation albums. Buy this & you will not be disappointed. I like this CD so much that I keep buying copies for other people, & I've just ordered 2 more!!!
