It seems that Fatboy is taking a pasting again. Perhaps the context of this mix has been lost on some reviewers. It's live! (albeit editedin places because of the length of the set..). Some of the mixes DO rattle & aren't perfect, but this provides a refreshing change from the Pro-Tools perfected mixes being producedin studios & tagged with a DJ's name, purely because he/ she chose the tracks & the programming.
I love Norm's 'devil may care' approach. He happily crosses genres, mixing house into techno, breaks into progessive, etc etc etc... He doesn't try & take you 'on a journey'. Oh - it's a fabulous cliche & should be reserved only for the likes of Sasha & Digweed, who really do take you on a journey, but again use Pro-Tools to do so! I also love that Fatboy Norm is one of the few DJs left who uses a pair of Technics. Therefore his live sets are bound to include a couple of loose mixes, but this only adds to the authenticity! He's a party DJ through & through, who knows how to whip up a crowd that don't care that you shouldn't mix Trance into Soul or whatever, but do care that a DJ gets them wiggling. It's a special skill to make a blend of anthems sound fresh & new & Slimboy Fatnorm succeeds at that again here.
It grows - By: Thomas Edwards, 19 Apr 2007 I bought this albumin 2004 & when I first bought it I didn't think all that much of it. Now, a few years later I've progressed from CDs. iTunes is telling me it's one of my most played albums. It seems that when I just want to listen to some good tunes, mixed well - this is where I go. It's not amazing, but it certainly grows on you.

i dont know why people both to give this album 1 star, they must of been bornin the wrong era. the late 80's i was raving to the top tunes that revolutionised the dance scene. thenin the early 90's dance really took off & made it what it is today. this set piece by norman cook has to be the best thing ive heard for a while, i am a great fan of dj mixes & while there are some mixes on cd that are better, this cd delivers some great vibing tunes which will have you moving for the weekend. all my friends like it & we are not really followers of norman cook, but this has to be a good buy for the REAL CONNOISSEUR who enjoys dance musicin its original form.

Ignore the negative reviews. I've no idea where they are coming from. I started listening to Pete Tong from the age of 13 & I'm 30 this year...so I've heard a few mixes & "essential mixes" & heard many sets from big namesin clubs & this has got to be one of THE best. So many mixes around. So much of the same old same old. But this is rockin. A classic. Live at Liquid Rooms by Jeff Mills is another. I'm also enjoying a Bob Sinclair mix with his gem Love Generation at the end. The best sets I've actually heard live would be Chemical Brothers at T In the Park 2004 & Daft Punkin 2003(?).
Fat boy will get you going every time! Perfect for a party or to get youin party mood before a night out! Enjoy!

Fantastic - By: , 28 Nov 2005 Fatboy slim mixes like a dream; from classic dance anthems of his own making to those of others, this CD is an experience not to be missed. There are some negative reviews listed here, but they're way off. Anyone who enjoys Fatboy Slim's exciting, big beat style of dance will enjoy this CD. Great buy!
