good collection of stomps from the swamps - By: mootch, 26 Feb 2007
I think the previous reviewer can't be that much of a music fan if they're surprised that a CD of Cajun music has some tracksin French! A cursory glance at the track listings ('Les Veuves De La Coulee' etc) might have given a bit of a hint.
I don't pretend to be any great authority on Cajun music but if you've heard one or two tracks & like the sound of it & want to find out more this CD is perfect as it includes a varied mix of different styles of tracks from slower waltzes to more up-tempo stomps, from such Cajun legends as the Balfa Brothers & Nathan Abshire.
To me it doesn't really matter whether you can understand the words - just sitback & let the warm, evocative sound of the Louisiana swamplands wash over you.

disappointed that the singing wasin french - thought I had ordered an all American CD - there is no indication that this was a French production! This should be made clear. Is there an American version of this CD? Music was great but would have enjoyed it more if I could have understood the words!
