Nice mix of modern jazz styles - By: mwanji@hotmail.com, 30 May 2001
Robin Eubanks plays acoustic & electric trombone, joined by his group Mental Images & some guests such as Dave Holland & Billy Kilson.

On this album he uses a mixture of styles (latin, jazz, funk...) as well as a mixture of time signaturesin his compositions, but they still have strong & memorable melodic elements.

There are also some more improvisational passages, such as duos with his brother Kevin on guitar & Billy Kilson (a fantastic moment!), & a trio of Robin, Kevin & Mino Cinelu on percussion.

The electric trombone introduces many unexpected sounds & techniques, such as real-time looping & multiphonics.

Overall, this is a very good CD, with strong compositions & improvisations. It contains a variety of styles without falling into shallow eclecticism.
