Celtic corker - By: Sparky, 08 Dec 2007
A little gem of a cd; there are quite a few songs that I had never heard before which makes it a change from the normal Christmas carol compilations - though for all I know they may be Celtic (or Irish) standards.
The instrumentation, as one might expect from the title, includes harps, pipes whistles & guitars as well as strings & is very nicely done; as someone else has remarked the effect is otherworldlyin parts, &in others I find it attractively 'ancient'.
I would thoroughly recommend this cd as something to listen toin it's own right or as background music whilst putting the tree up, which I suspect is what most people would want it for.
An absolute snip at the price too !!
different, nice but a bit twee! - By: Cake Links, 01 Dec 2007
I have this album, it's ok, there are a couple of nice tracks, some very odd tracks & some that are a bit twee - ~It is an 'irish' cd, but not as good as clannad, enya, moya brennan.
It's ok for Background Music.
I would rather listen Moya Brenan's Irish Christmas!
EXCELLENT AND UNUSUAL - By: outlaws@ukgateway.net, 21 Jan 2001
what an excellent c.d.! this is no run-of-the-mill christmas album. the selection of songs is unlike any other, & the music & singing are other-worldly, transporting you away from this mortal sphere. the only thing that could possibly be better would be for enya to put out a christmas album! i'm buying copies for all my family for next christmas. i'd recommend this c.d. to absolutely anyone!
