Warning! it's not 'proper' Green Day - By: SMB Metal, 11 Mar 2007
I'm afraid this is not Green Day's best album & will split many Green Day fans down the middle. It's certainly more 'Radio friendly' & different from the other Green Day albums, but it's not heavy enough IMO. My favourite track is 'Minority' which is what Green Day's music WAS always about!
Different but still good - By: ParanoidAndroid, 23 Nov 2006
This is quite a different sound to Green Day's other albums but I think it is just as good. Overall this is how i would rate the songs:
Warning 9/10- Clever lyrics, good opening song
Blood, Sex & Booze 9/10- very funny song
Church On Sunday 8/10- uplifting song
Fashion Victim 9/10- clever lyrics but it lets itself downin the middle
Castaway 8/10- another good song
Misery 9/10- very different but great!
Deadbeat Holiday 9/10- catchy
Hold On 8/10- another uplifting song
Jackass 9/10- good lyrics, nice sax solo
Waiting 9/10- slower pace but still good
Minority 10/10- best song on the album
Macy's Day Parade 9/10- a slow song but with good lyrics
86 (live) 10/10- great live version of one of my favourites
Fantastic - By: Neil Stanton, 09 Nov 2006
As saidin some other reviews, a lighter sound from the California noisemongers, & all the better for itin my opinion. A cracking set of tunes & second only to American Idiotin the band's catalogue.
Different! - By: Mr. D. Chandler, 01 Apr 2006
OK, now I'm a huge Green Day but I'm a little disappointed by the album. Well it's just not their sound I feel. Also I think that maybe the band at this stage of their careers may have been going through alot of strain & that maybe reflectsin the quality of this album. It's not bad but not great either. It does however contain a live version of 86 which is a nice little extra!
good stuff-dunno y ppl dont like it! - By: , 26 Aug 2005
loadsa ppl are saying stuff like "its not green day", "they've lost their punky-ness-now its more like country" & so on. yes, its not the same as their punkier stuff, but frankly, who cares? the songs still have some 'kick'in them, & i quite like the less punkier songs.
the best song on this by far is minority, & if you're thinking of buying this album on hearing minority, expect songs a bit like that only not as good.
HINT:if you have iTunes, go into music store & browse for green day. you can listen to a (free) 30sec sample of each of the songs.
