A slight let down after Devil Without a Cause - By: Mr. C. Watmore, 05 Jan 2003
This album is certainly not one of the Kid's best efforts. After the sucess of the Devil Without a Cause album, it seems something deserted him here. I like Kid Rock but this album isn't his best. The only tracks I really liked were American Bad Ass, Early Morning Stoned Pimp & 3 Sheets to the Wind, the rest of the album isn't very good, & I would recommend leaving this be & getting his first album or his more recent album Cocky instead.
History Lesson - By: , 04 May 2002
After the huge sucsess of 1998's diamond certified "Devil without a Cause" Kid Rock has made a huge dent on the rock landscape & much was expected of the 28 year old rock-rapper from the mean streets of motown. This album does not dissapoint as Kid provides more of his southern fried nu-metalin the form of tracks like "American Bad" & "Dark & Grey". Rock also proves his frankly remarkable skill on the mike as an MC on tracks like "Ya Keep On" & "3 Sheets to the Wind". This self-prouced 14 track collection is a must for fans of Kid Rock's hardrock rapping. The album is a true insite into the life of Kid Rock before the massive sucsess of his 1998 album "Devil without a Cause". Although I reccommend this LP to all Kid Rock fans but some may be dissappointed as the main flavour of the album is Rap. Apart from this small defect I reccommend this tape to all fans of truly great music.
BRILLIANT A MIXTURE OF MOTOWN AND ROCK COMBINED IN ONE - By: sushmitasarkar15@hotmail.com, 05 Oct 2001
Kid Rocks album THE HISTORY of rock has got to be one of the most unique rock albums ever released. The album is a mixture of hard rock, like the song Dark & Grey to smooth hip hop & soulin the song Early Morning Stoned Pimp. The lyrics are explicit but they match with the song. Top tunes all round, definately worth a buy.
mmm, variety - By: ging_2g@yahoo.co.uk, 24 Aug 2001
well, if your a metal fan you cant help but love what he's done to Sad but Trues amazing riff (american bad ass) the only downer to that song is that he allowed pro wrestling near it, dark & grey is about the only other completely rock track, but as always his Hip hop influences do show, butin an artist as talented as the kid, they only help to enhance the tracks, rather than holding back the metal. a quality album whatever your persuastion.
The Best Music album ever! - By: , 16 Jun 2001
Quite simply Kid Rock at his very best. A superb follow up to Devil Without A Cause. It has it all, with the fantastic new songsin American Bad Ass & Born 2 be a hick, old favourites like Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp & Ya Keep On. Hard hittin' rockers such as Dark & Grey &in most places My Oedipus Complex. A really great CD that will brighten up any boring 10 hour long train/car/plane trip! KID ROCK RULES!!!
