overrated nonsense - By: Nomessingabout, 11 Jun 2008
there is a lot of, & I mean A LOT OF truly awful Jungle & Drum & Bass cds out there, most are vomit-worthy the songs are so bad. There is only a few, genuine, quality D&B gems that are worthy of prising money out of my wallet. This is yet another which is a big fat waste of cash.
Yes the opening tracks on both cds are classics, but that does not make up for filling the rest of the album with dog poo, all the other tracks are just complete nonsense. Stupid noises, poor poor songwriting & repeatedly annoying beats. When the title track is a real classic I suppose it makes so called artists think they can stick out an album to cashin on one songs appeal. Just make sure you are not another one of the fools who falls for it & just buy timeless on vinyl or as a single. But then, even timeless gets a bit boring after a couple of plays so why bother. Just look hardin the right places if you want quality D&B albums & save your cash for them.
timeless - a landmark dance/electronic album - By: simon mack, 15 Jan 2008
simple really - if yr any kind of music lover : be it into drum+bass/dance, electronica or is just simply open minded who likes "deep" or late night electronica : u need this album.
a landmark lp which still shows up the shortcomings of many other so called classic "dance/electronica artists" . its not perfect but tracks such as the full length version of "inner city life" , "you + me" & "sea of tears" are stunning. even now some 10 years on. BUY.
TIMELESS!!! - By: Marek, 08 Jan 2006
To be honest, I used to think that Goldie is an overrated artist that got recognision only by a chance of being able to make musicin early 90's. Hovever, when I first listened to this album I shut my mouth & was like:"what the?"This is really unique ,deep & lovely. Tracks like State of Mind( I fellin love with this one) or Sea of Tears( excellent) are just a few tracks of worth mentioning. Drum & Bass should sound like this today, there's too much poor music around these days. Big Up Goldie & all Metalheadz fans worldwide!!!
A Dark Melancholic Masterpiece - By: J. E. Holden, 28 Jul 2004
A stray pit bull terrier crouches with legs quivering as it excretes. Glass lies shattered on the pavement. Upwards lies grey concrete, crammed bedsits, satellite dishes pointed at the sun competitively as they extract the chlorophyllic signals of threehundred channels feeding microwave mush to minds young & old. On the corner stands a pimp wearing a sheepskin coat, his breath visiblein the cold. On his wrist is an imitation gold watch, on his neck a variety of chains, symbolic of estate status. A police car drives past & he smiles menacingly at the officers inside. As he smiles, his gold teeth glintin the evening winter sun.
His is the triumph of creation. The creation of a defining Thatcherite album, an electronic depiction of the scene above & countless other scenes of dissolution & strugglein Maggie's societyless Britain. A dark melancholic masterpiece, popularising Drum & Bassin 1990's clubland & inspiring a disenchanted youthin countless bedrooms across a depressed nation. It defined a feeling that few others had the ability or even dared to express.

Kevin, if you think this is the worst Drum 'n' Bass album you've ever listened to, I'd hate to hear what you think the best is! Goldie is one of the purest innovators & originators of D'n'B there ever has been or will be.
Timeless is amazingin every sense, composition, arrangement, production, use of session musicians & working with someone like Rob just adds the cream to the cake.
Although Goldie's arrogance shines throughin most of his interviews, so does his skillin his music & art.
Anyone thinking of buying this, do so & enjoy. If you want something a little dirtier try Ring of Saturn also by Goldie
