This 3cd pack is an excellent buy for those fans of Chris wishing to hear how the band soundedin the late 60's & early 70's. It was, I feel a sort of "experimental" period for the Barber band, when it had shaken off the "trad" image, with the addition of electric guitars (although the banjo was still retained!)
The tracks are from two albums, "Drat That Frattle Rat" & "Get Rolling" - not generally well-known Barber recordings but well worth hearing if you have an open mind.Most of the tunes are pretty "obscure" although there are a few of the old Trad warhorses as well.Naturally the musicianship is up to the usual superb standard, with the addition on most of the tracks, of some younger progressive guest musicians (Rory Gallagher among them).
A thoroughly recommended buy for all Barber buffs then!
