A soulful CD that speaks to the heart - By: , 12 Mar 2001
I love this CD & never tire of it. V Shepard has written many of the songs & other songs are classics that she does great justice to. This is the CD when you need to express yourself a bit & sing at the top of your voicein the car, where no one can hear you!
A really moving CD with a good mixture of titled. - By: , 28 Aug 2000
I sing along at my computer, relaxing & some beautiful melodies mixed with other good 'classic' numbers. Disappointed that Barry White number not on it, but good value anyhow. I think many of these songs will be long standing classics & I would like to know if I can obtain either single sheets or album of Vonda Shepard songs. They would sell well & promote her songs even further.
vonda shepard/ally mcbeal - By: , 22 Feb 2000
For all "die-hard" ally fans this is an absolute must. Being able to listen to memories wherever you are is the best. Vincent & Baby, don't you break my heart slow have to be the best songs on the album, although they all grow on you as soon as you hear them. It's one of those albums that you look at the track list & think, oh yeah, i know say 6 or 7 of them but you listen to them & the albums finished before you know it & the songs (and pictures of ally dancingin the courtoom with al green etc.) are imprinted on your mind.
The only other thing to add is that if you are looking for barry white - you'd be better off buying his album - 'coz you won't find him on here!
Vonda's new songs capture the heart and sole of Ally McBeal - By: , 16 Jan 2000
Vonda Shepard's second album of songs from Ally McBeal compliments the first one well. It contains many of the musical flourishes that are a hallmark of her musical arrangements, whilst adding enough variations on a theme to maintain their originality.
The album stands on its own merits, but will also help afficianados of the TV series to picture scenes featuring their favorite characters. Vonda Shepard's own songs compare well with those that she covers, a particular favourite being 'Baby, Don't You Break My Heart Slow'. She is at her best singing songs that tell a story about love.
When listened to as a whole, this album is perhaps less compelling that the first one. However, this is offset by the best songs, as they raise an already high standard still further.
