Listen.....and feel the sun on your face - By: Patrick Moore, 29 Jan 2006
I've owned this album for more than 20 years, first on vinyl & now on CD, &in all those years it's always put a smile on my face when I've played it. From the minute the agogo bells kickin on track 1, I'm transported to somewhere that's hot, sunny & full of beautiful people.....
Standout tracks include the opener, "Brazilian Love Affair", which features an awesome Rhodes solo on the out chorus, perfectly matched by some classic 70s string-synth. Other favourites are "Brazilian Sugar" & "Sugar Loaf Mountain", which has some of the sweetest rhythm guitar playing you'll ever hear.
But having said that, there's really not a weak track on the album. Put a little Brazilian sunshinein your life & add this to your collection - you won't be disappointed.
George Duke the Master of the Groove. - By: dariusagoodwin@hotmail.com, 28 Mar 2001
George Duke is a true pioneerin this field of music, latin fusion. He embrasess each tune with a new approach & is a master of rhythmic displacement. The opening tune Brazilian Love Affair has to be the centre piece for this cd. It's combines a mellow chorus which makes you feel as though you werein the heart of Rio! & also combines great solos from bass & one from George himself playing the Fender Rhodes Piano. (very Groovy). He encompasses everything that I like about latin music, great melodys/harmonic diversity/outstanding solos/and a really solid rhythm section featuring the percussion legend 'Airto'.
The other tunes are equally as progressive as Brazilian love affair, most noteably 'Brazilian Sugar' which has a great synth/moog solo from George. I seriously suggest that anyone who likes a latin flavourin their cocktail of musical taste should buy this CD. It seriously has made my Winter Blues a whole lot brighter.
