An excellent soundtrack - By: LXIX, 02 Nov 2008
The multi-million selling "1492: Conquest of Paradise" is another musical masterpiece from Vangelis.
Christopher Columbus's first voyage from Spain to the Bahamas, Hispaniola & Cuba was a truly significant & momentous eventin human history. The film, directed by Ridley Scott & released to mark the 500th anniversary of this journey, is greatly enhanced through this accompanying music.
Every trackin this 55 minute CD is quality & there's great variety - for example, the gravitas of the maritime sounding "Conquest of Paradise", the Latin hymns of "Monastery of La Rabida", the Hispanic atmospherein "Deliverance", the regal air that is createdin "City of Isabel", the innocence of the indigenous peoples & the beauty of their existencein "Eternity" & the subsequent ethnic tension & conflict skilfully captured by "Moxica & the Horse".
It's also worth mentioning "Hispaniola". This song is a sonic force of nature that blends Flamenco, latin & tribal elements to create a wonderful sense of destiny & a turning pointin history.
It's no surprise that music from this album has been used by othersin a diverse number of fields such as sport & politics all over the world. Overall, a must have soundtrack.

The soundtrack is a collection of beautiful pieces of music & it is a wonderful listen. Each track tells its own story yet they seamlessly intertwine & seem to be a natural progression .

One of the best movie music CD's - By: Wim Nelis, 21 Sep 2007
If you ever saw the movie (who did't??) you must agree with me that the music was awesome. This is one of those CD's that have been composed very well & even without the movie you get a very good picturein your mind what's going on. There is one song where I just imagine the 'Pinta', 'NiƱa' & the 'Santa Maria' sailing through the rought seas towards the new world...really gripping. Even after so many years I still play this CD on a regular basis. Stronly recommended.
Muisc to relax to - By: Helen, 29 Oct 2006
I don't normally buy soundtrack albums but this music was composed by Vangelis who is a master at his work. You can imagine the scenes - the drama & the melodic scores are just what you need to sit down, relax & as another reviewer has said, drink a glass of wine (or fruitjuice) - it just transports you away to distant shores. A very good buy.
Soo Cool - By: , 22 Feb 2002
This music is so easy to listen to & relax. There is the feeling of history & the toil & danger, but never a feeling of depression.
