Does exactly what it says on the tin - By: Big Jim, 09 Jan 2008
Tracks on this album go back 25 years & I loved them then & I still love them now. I am only sorry that Stuart & the boys never got the critical credit & public acclaim they deserved. One of the few bands to keep guitarsin the chartsin the 80's they never reached the heights of U2 (I remember seeing Stuart Adamson joining Bono & the band at Hammersmith for an encorein 1982/83 I think) but their stirring music appealed to the celtin all of us. Not a duff track on this album representing as it does the heyday of their glorious noise. Don't forget the later albums either, still a cut above anything else out there at the time & still hold good today.
Absolute Genius - By: J. Muir, 02 Jan 2008
Big Country captured a momentin musical time that'll never be repeated. I'm a big fan of many current bands but this is something else. Buy this along with the rest of the their albums & you'll understand. The lyrics, the guitar riffs & the passion are something to behold. Check out the 'Final Fling' DVD live from Berlin - outstanding! I only wish I was backin the late 80's/early 90's to see these guys live. A unique sound & one of the most under-rated bands of our time.
Big Country Big Sound - By: W. E. Withill, 19 Apr 2007
I always thought they were treated as a bit of a poor relation to Simple Minds & U2 . I thought their sound was completely distinctive & certainly the 'Scottishness' shone through . I lent this album to a Scottish Military colleaugue he liked it so much that he never gave it back ..... bloody Pikey ! Any way I'll buy it again & really enjoy listening again . I am very sorry about Stewart Adamson though a sad end to avery talented man
Great Eighties Nostalgia! - By: David C. Coleman, 16 Mar 2007
Absolutely one of the most original bands of the 80's. They are greatly missed; Their unique style may have only limited appeal. But the musicianship is flawless. Stonking sing-along-tracks, great for the car!!!...
Fantastic Album! - By: , 01 Nov 2005
Fantastic stuff. I think what makes it so good is that it has some class tracks, & absolutely no stinkers to bring the album down. Powerful sound, brilliant album to have on when your driving!
