Just as you think you have heard all that 1920s jazz has to offer , along comes this strange collection of recordings. Superficially, this is a Charleston Dance Orchestra;in reality it is a riotous eccentric mix of jazz music ideas successfully cobbled together by an arranger who was gifted with a hint of genius. Every sound & rhythm can be heard on jazz recordings of other bands; this band has successfully blended this mad-cap mix together with very competent musicians to form a very unusual sounding band. If you like Charleston music then you will find this CD a little different from the run-of-the-mill Charleston recordings from the 1920s. The music is a strange mix of Charleston, formal dance orchestra, do-wac-a-do & any other sound & idea they can get to fit; very unusual & played very well.
