Kent/Ace's rare forayin the Atlantic vaults has produced this compilation of Atlantic soul. Crammed on just 1 cd are some of the best of such greats as Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Percy Sledge & Clarence Carter (even though these tracks & more can be found on the numerous other Atlantic soul compilations). What makes this compilation stand out are a batch of very worthwhile but seldom anthologised instrumentals: the organ version of In the midnight hour by Little Mac, the latin soul of My girl Sloopy by King Curtis & Willie Bobo & a driving boogaloo by salsa star Charlie Palmieri on Uptight.
