The late great Bruddah Iz - By: streathamdave, 17 Jul 2010
Bruddah Iz had a great voice. I find listening to this CD both relaxing & uplifting. Not all tracks arein English but hawiian instead. If this is going to be an issue for you then don't buy. Well worth buying for versions of country roads & over the rainbow.
Mixed reactions . . . - By: R. Grant, 14 Jul 2010
I bought this after reading a review / recommendationin the new Rough Guide to World Music - I've been quite keen on Hawaiian music for some time & recently I've taken up the ukulele. My reactions are rather mixed: I love the acoustic songs, with simple ukulele accompaniment. Not so keen on the songsin English, whose lyrics are a bit pedestrian, & as I'm no fan of bombast I really can't come to terms with the big production numbers with strings. But there's definitely a lot to enjoy here: the man had a beautiful voice (maybe several different voices) & his uke playing is superb.
Four stars!
Disappointing - By: Jack Campbell, 16 Mar 2010
Having first come across his music on youtube - somewhere over the rainbow/it's a wonderful world segue, which I thought was wonderful & has been featuredin films & TV productions, I was disappointed with the choices of song on this album, & even after playing it over & over, they haven't grown on me. I wish I had just bought the single download.
Disappointed with the best track - By: A. Joy, 14 Jan 2010
I bought this cd on basis of reviews I read. Unfortunately only read review of Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World track after listening to it (main reason I bought was for this track). I have to agree the horrible sounds Israel makes at the end of the track TOTALLY ruined the whole thing. Such a shame I was so enjoying listening to it & then right at the end it is ruined. I actually said out loud "and you just ruined it". I urged anyone wanting to hear these 2 songs without the horrible ending to look around before buying. If I could I would fade the track & leave the last 3 seconds off!
Be Carefull - By: Lecky loo loo, 04 Aug 2009
Hi, I got this purely for track 14 over the rainbow, having watched Dr Green die on ER & heard this music made me blub like a baby, have heard it a few times since then but only when I saw a repeat or Meet Joe Black did I manage to see who sang it, ordered it & am quite disapointed over the rainbow is not similar to many tracks on the album, I thought it would be similar but 90 percent of the tracks are more traditional music & it has taken me on my 3rd listen to like some more of the tracks, have burned it & saved 6 tracks from 15!! Be carefull if you want the rainbow song buy the movie soundtrack it's half price of this!!
