All the big UK Motown hits - By: Peter Durward Harris, 21 Mar 2005
The first CD covers the music of the Supremes, with & without Diana, while the second CD covers Diana's solo career up to the time that she left Motownin 1981.
Of the Supremes tracks, eighteen were recorded with Diana. I'm pleased to see My world is empty without you (one of their finest songs) included despite the fact that it completely missed the UK charts. Come see about me, Backin my arms again & I hear a symphony are also here despite only being minor UK hits - however, all three were American number one hits. More predictably, Where did our love go, Baby love (the only UK number one hit for the Supremes), Stopin the name of love, You can't hurry love, You keep me hanging on, The happening, Reflections & I'm gonna make you love me (with the Temptations), all of which made the UK top ten, are here along with UK top twenty hits - Love is here & now you're gone, In & out of love, Love child, I'm livingin shame, I second that emotion (with the Temptations) & Someday we'll be together.
Six Supremes tracks date from the period after Diana left. Five of these made the UK top ten & the other just missed, that one being River deep mountain high (with the Four Tops), a cover of the Ike & Tina Turner classic. Much as I enjoy these tracks, I prefer the Supremes when Diana was their lead singer.
Diana had a huge number of UK hits without the Supremes but many of them were minor hits. Only one of those (Reach out & touch) is included here, the others here all making the UK top twenty or better. Of these, Ain't no mountain high enough, Remember me, I'm still waiting (Diana's only UK solo number one for Motown - she later had another number one with Chain reaction for a different label), Surrender, Touch mein the morning, All of my life, You are everything (with Marvin Gaye), Do you know where you're going to, Love hangover, Upside down, My old piano & Endless love (with Lionel Richie) all made the UK top ten.
Of course, it wasn't possible to include everything - I would have liked Last time I saw him & Getting ready for love (two of Diana's minor UK hits) while others might want The boss (another minor UK hit but an American number one hit) - but this is a very strong compilation that will give enormous pleasure to a lot of people. From a British perspective, this is the definitive Motown collection of Diana Ross & the Supremes, including every UK top twenty hit & a few other important tracks. Americans may notice that some big hits (from their perspective) are missing (including The boss) but not many. A different British double-CD compilation, Love & life, covers Diana's entire career but misses out a lot of Motown classics to make room for the later stuff. I prefer this set but you must make up your own mind.

Really the best of Diana & the supremes
Diana Ross- You are the QUEEN of R&B - By: Agrey Oswana, 08 Mar 2004
This album is very much worth buying as it is a compiliation of her with & without The Supremes.Personally I prefer her with The Supremes because vocally- her voice manages to carry the supremes as a group as to when she was a soloist somehow with songs such as 'Doobedood'Ndoobe, Doobedood'Ndoobe, Doobedood'Ndoo'her backng singers manage to carry her (vocally). But over all she is a true Diva of R&B & this CD is worth listening to.
A mostly lively Album, with all the well-known classics! - By: , 21 May 2001
I bought this album for myself,in particluar for the songs "Baby Love" & "You Can't Hurry Love", but found that i enjoyed most of the other songs just as much. Although some songs are unfamiliar, the well-known lively songs always put mein a cheery mood!
