Yet another 5 star review - By: Brian Scott, 05 Aug 2008
Just had to add my 5 star review to the pile. This is a timeless, classic album. The songs are still as fresh today as they were 15 years ago. And especially when played live!
Think Amazon should have a special category for albums with 100% 5 star reviews. Can't be too many of them.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream - By: G. Jolliffe, 25 Nov 2007
A Classic, bothin the Grunge & Alternative Rock genres. Siamese dream saw the Pumpkins massively develop on Gish, their debut, to craft an album of musical & songwriting brilliance that created a platform from which, much of their future work would develop.
There's nothing not to like. Siamese Dream is 13 tracks, of wall to wall hits, displaying Billy Corgan's talent as an innovative songwriter, using a multitude of techniques & styles to facilitate complexity within apparently simplistic music. Cherub Rock, bustling with chord progressions, Guitar Solos & layering amid such a basic tune, is an excellent example of the sonic harmony between the simple & the technical that makes Siamese Dream an addictive & rewarding listen.
Its a testament to the Record that The Smashing Pumpkins still play several of its tracks live today, & that musical ideas spawned on this album have gone on to influence not only the rest of the Pumpkins' career, but also that of many other bands of the 90's & 00's. Unquestionably worthy of a placein any rock fan's CD rack.
Just the Best - By: J. Evans, 02 Nov 2007
As every single reviewer has said, this is one of, if not the, best rock albums ever made, by anyone. Period. When it was releashed it shook the world. I bought it the day it came out & have listened to it probably every week since !
Interestingly, I am listening to Gish more & more now, that also contains songs of pure beauty. And what about Pisces Iscariot, dont even get me started on how good that is !
Beautiful/Scarring alt rock masterpiece. - By: Arth Jay tha Mic Fiend, 09 Sep 2007
Now when this album was made the Pumpkins werentin a very good way, Billy Corgan was overweight & almost suicidal, Jimmy Chamberlain wasin the midst of heroind addiction & D'arcy & James Iha had recently broken up. However as it turns out this was Perfect for Billys songs of torture & alienation & ironically helped craft this beautiful record.
Now the opening track Cherub Rock is a sublime way to open an album, a brilliantly smooth drumroll from Jimmy kicksin followed by a softer, clean guitar sound.....and then the gods did rock! 40-50 layers of guitars kickin & create a startlingly dramatic sound. Billy Corgan is quite the Phil Spector as it turns out as he played most of the instruments on the album to create an electric wall of sonic shockwaves.
However the one instrument its clear he DID NOT play! are the drums. No one but perhaps John Bonham could belt out such loud & clear, almost melodic drumming befitting the music.
The songs are all exellent really. Hummer & Today are heavy metal/grungy rockers that help open up the album. But then the beautiful strings & arrangements of Disarm kickin & a whole different album emerges. This song is one of their best compositions & though beautiful is the epitome of sadness that throws me into a confused state. Not many songs can do that. Geek U.S.A has some absolutely brilliant guitaring on it that seems to last forever but is never boring! Spaceboy is beautiful as well.....hell i could talk about every song on the album but you just need to hear them! Purchase this 90's masterpiece.
The Pumpkins most consistent & resonating album. Beautiful
