Not as good as Jame Blunt! ( I don't think) - By: Alan D. Evans, 18 Jun 2008
This Album transports me elswhere! Poor Elliott! Why is some of the best music made by depressed souls? And not by stupid ex army blokes who sing rubbish melody fm fodder! I can't believe that one star review!! Wot an idiot with no music taste that geezer is!!
Melodic, Thoughtful, Rich, Sweet, Understated. - By: James G, 23 Jan 2008
My mate made me a copy of this & after a week of it I've gone out & bought it. To be honest I haven't listened to the second half as in-depth as th first but this is a staggeringly beautiful ablum. Being a fan of his earlier, more stripped down stuff I was concerned that by beefing up the sound - the intimate, personal quality would be lost. It actually has the opposite effect... The tunes shine through & Elliott demonstrates his gift as an aranger. Its never over produced - pianos, drums, guitars, strings & even some horns all work together tell the tale of each song --- there is light & shade..... always - as ever beautiful melodies & insightful, emotive lyrics.
Please buy this album! - if only to hear "Waltz #2"
Very Disappointing - By: Jools, 06 Jan 2008
I bought this & another album by Elliot Smith, simply having read the reviews & also i heard that he inspired James Blunt's music.
I have played the album a few times, & to be honest i cant wait for it to finish, i think it is so depressing.
I cant see any comparison at all with James Blunt, & i think his music is fantastic.
I will be selling my copies on, so keep your eyes open for a bargain.
My favourite album - By: Helen Martin, 15 Jan 2007
I bought this album after hearing just one of the songs, 'Waltz #2', & I was hooked. At the time it was an impulse buy but I'd say to anyone that it was the best money I have ever impulse spent.
It's haunting, beautiful & you hear something differentin the lyrics every time you listen.
I just adore this CD
