Kenny Burrell's smooth guitar leads these graceful renderings of Duke Ellington staples without monopolising them. Kenny Burrell knows the blues & latin influences (Caravan)in Duke's work & he plays them smoothly but distinctly. The Blues medley is a great example of this with the tasteful solos by ao Thad Jones, Jimmy Smith & Joe Henderson. The vocals on Don't get around & My little red book are OK but detract a little bit from the superb musicianship.
